Teucrium chamaedrys (wall germander) is a compact, woody-based perennial that gives you a neat, low mound of glossy, scalloped, aromatic green leaves and showy flower spikes in summer. You can use it to edge paths, outline beds, or clip it into a low hedge, and it also fits beautifully in rock, herb, and knot gardens.

Give it full sun and well-drained soil for the tightest habit and best flowering. It tolerates lean or rocky soils as long as drainage is good, and it handles dry conditions well once established. Avoid heavy, waterlogged sites to prevent stress and decline.

Expect it to mature around 12-18 inches tall and about 12-18 inches wide, with rosy-lavender to pinkish-purple tubular blooms that draw pollinators. After flowering, pinch or shear lightly to keep plants dense and compact, especially if stems get leggy. In colder parts of its range (USDA Zone 5), a sheltered spot and winter protection can help reduce dieback and improve longevity.
