Potentilla neumanniana ‘Nana’ Common name: cinquefoil, Alpine Cinquefoil; a/k/a P. verna, P. tabernaemontani or P. crantzii. Zones (3) 4 to 8 (9). Full sun to part shade. Plants reach 3 to 4 inches tall and 12+ inches wide, Herbaceous, semi-evergreen, mat-forming perennial ground cover.

Spicy-scented, strawberry-like leaves are shiny and deep green. Buttery yellow, one-quarter inch, 5-petaled, long-blooming flowers emerge in spring and sometimes rebloom early autumn.

Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soil, Potentilla neumanniana ‘Nana’ prefers moist, cool soils in full sun. Spreading rapidly by runners to form a dense ground cover and requiring little maintenance, it can be mowed occasionally on a high setting to trim up the plants.
