Astilbe ‘Glow’ (‘Glut’) Common Name: Spirea Zones 4 to 9. Full sun to full shade. Plants reach 30 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide; Clump forming habit. Growth rate: Moderate.
‘Glow’ quickly forms a compact graceful, fern-like mound of dainty foliage topped by bunches of fragrant, bright red tiny dark red buds open to reveal striking, deep red flowers with rose highlights; they truly glow as their name implies. Flowers are densely packed into erect to arching, triangular, plume-like flower panicles rising above the foliage on slender, upright stems. Bronze-red spring foliage is likely to turn green in summer. Blooms mid summer.
