5A is the longest-strand compressed sphagnum moss available for repotting. Its long, durable fibers make it an excellent choice for creating moss mounds, such as those used for Neofinetia falcata, while also providing outstanding longevity in the pot. Because the fibers are longer, they tend to break down more slowly than shorter grades of sphagnum, helping the media remain usable for a longer period.

Compared to our 100 g Loose Fiber Sphagnum, 5A has shorter but noticeably thicker strands. The loose fiber moss offers finer fibers for more detailed sculpting and a smoother finished appearance, while 5A provides greater structure and durability for everyday mounding and potting.

One of the biggest advantages of 5A is its exceptional value. A 1 kg compressed bale yields approximately 10 times more moss than a 100 g bag of loose fiber, yet costs only slightly more—making it an outstanding choice for growers who repot frequently or need larger quantities without sacrificing quality.
