Gaillardia grandiflora Mesa Yellow Common Name: Blanket Flower Zones 5 to 9. Full Sun. Mature height is 16 to 18 inches, 20 to 22 inches wide. Easy to care for herbaceous perennial requires little care once established. Mesa Yellow shape is compact and well-branched with a strong, upright habit. Flower tend to be about 2 to 3 weeks earlier than most Gaillardia. Sunfast, pure sunshine yellow blossoms measuring 2.5 to 3.5 inches across are produced in abundance followed by attractive globe-shaped seed heads. Plants bloom from early summer into fall, and provide continuous color in containers. Deadhead occasionally will help produce flowers all summer.
