It’s 2026 — wrestlers shouldn’t still be cutting weight with trash bags and spit cups. The HPL Cut Program is a complete, season-long weight management protocol built on the same principles real sanctioning bodies already require: gradual, monitored, and reversible.

What’s inside:

  • Phase 1 — Pick the Right Class. How to use an actual body composition read (not a guess) to set a safe minimum weight, choose a class that’s realistically 5–8% below a normal well-fed baseline, and re-test through the season instead of locking in one number in August.
  • Phase 2 — The Weekly Framework. The core, in-season system: a 1.5%-of-bodyweight weekly loss cap, a simple 300–500 calorie daily deficit, a hydration check using urine color instead of guesswork, and daily same-conditions morning weigh-ins so a bad trend gets caught in 2–3 days instead of at weigh-in. Laid out as a clear target table with the “why” behind each number.
  • Phase 3 — Fight Week. A day-by-day breakdown for the six days before weigh-in — shifting food choices to reduce gut residue, trimming (not cutting) sodium, and tapering naturally, with zero reliance on saunas, suits, or forced fluid restriction.
  • Phase 4 — The Rehydration & Refuel Window. The piece most programs skip: a timed plan for the minutes and hours right after weigh-in — what to drink, what to eat, and when — so the athlete is actually fueled by the time they step on the mat, including guidance for staying topped off between matches on a tournament day.
  • Red Flags. A clear list of warning signs — dizziness, dark urine, elevated resting heart rate, missed periods, any use of laxatives or diuretics — that mean it’s time to stop and involve a physician.
  • Weekly Tracking Log. A copyable log (weight, urine color, resting HR, energy notes) to run for every week of the season.

Pairs with the HPL Takedown Program for a complete in-season plan.
