Description

Pisidium littorale ‘Lemon’

Lemon “strawberry” guava can help you bring the taste of the tropics indoors! This native Brazillian bush can be widely grown as a potted indoor/outdoor shrub that produces regular yields of tasty white flowers, as well as with crispy, tart and aromatic 1″- 2″ inch round yellow fruit with a sweet and juicy pulp! Unlike regular subtropical guavas of the Acca family, the Pisidium “strawberry guava” has leathery evergreen leaves of a lovely, shiny medium green. The showy blooms are borne singly on the tips of the branches, and they look like gravity-defying spangle explosions.

Lemon guava is cold hardy to 23 degrees F, so plan to grow in a pot and bring indoors in colder zones. When planted in-ground it becomes a sturdy, self-fertile 10-15 foot shrub or small tree. These seedlings are reliably self-fertile but planting more than 1 can increase yields.

Cold Hardy to USDA Zone: 10

Mature Height:  10′-15′

Sun: Full Sun
