Lupinus Gallery Series-Mixed (30)ct Flat Common Name: Lupine, Family: Fabaceae Zone 4 to 6 (annuals in 7 and 9). Full sun to partial shade, light afternoon shade in hot summer locations. Mature height is 20 to 24 inches, 12 to 16 inches spread. Clump forming herbaceous perennial.

Theses compact Lupines contains a mix of deep blue, red, pink, yellow, and white (single colors) huge erect spikes of densely-packed pea-like flowers. In size, they fall between the Popsicle and Russell Hybrids, measuring in at about 20 to 24 inches tall. Lupines peak with warm, sunny days and cool nights. Well-established clumps will send 10 to 12 flowering stems up out of a single clump.

Lupines require moderately fertile, slightly acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soil. Lupines find it difficult to survive in areas with extremely hot summers. Applying mulch around the root zone will help to keep the roots cool and will protect them over the winter. Deadheading spent flowers will prolong the bloom time, as well as rejuvenate the plants.

Hybrid lupines may be grown from seed, but will not come true from seed in the garden. Propagate from sideshoot cuttings in late spring to early summer. Prune plants close to the ground if powdery mildew or aphids become a problem.
